Mexico is a proud and historically rich nation on the North American continent. This Spanish-speaking country is a popular tourist resort for many Americans and Canadians, but large parts of the country, especially the towns and cities near the border, have become very dangerous places for tourists. The police here have a reputation for being corrupt and it is often said that the drug cartels control more of the city than the government does. Nevertheless, there are many great places to see in Mexico and most of them are safe for tourists. It is home to some fantastic cuisine, some friendly and beautiful people and a rich heritage.

Prostitution in Mexico

Prostitution is legal and regulated in much of Mexico, and it has generally been legal here since the late 19h century. Pimping, where someone other than the prostitute profits from the act, is illegal here but still very common. There are several "tolerance zones" in cities throughout the country and in these zones anything goes. They are usually flooded with working girls and there are also brothels present in these areas. The girls working in the sex trade in Mexico are often very poor an may be addicted to drugs, many of these girls are Mexican themselves but some also come from other Central American and South American countries.

Sex with a prostitute under the age of 18 is illegal in Mexico, but this is very common and many of these girls are also trafficked or forced into the act.

Best Places to Visit in Mexico

One of the best and most misunderstood places to visit in Mexico is the capital Mexico City. There is a huge population here and Mexico is renowned for crime and a gang culture, but all things considered the city has a very low rate of violent crime, much lower than many big cities in the United States. Cancun and Acapulco also have plenty of charm; these places have somewhat fallen out of favour in recent years but were once very popular tourist destinations and still have a lot to offer people seeking sun, sea and a good time. For tourists who want to sample the wilder side of Mexico, then Tijuana could be the perfect choice.

Best Things to See in Mexico

For a taste of the great civilisations that used to dominate this area, then a visit to the Yucatan and to Chichen Itza should be high on your agenda. Mexico City also has a huge number of things to see and do, including Mexico's most visited museum, the Museo Nacional de Antropologia. The Metropolitan Cathedral and Palacio de Bellas Artes are also well worth a visit.

BDSM / Fetish in Mexico

Fetishes and Paraphilias

Although seemingly not as popular as it is in Northern Europe and much of North America, it is still possible to find BDSM, bondage and other fetish clubs in Mexico. You'll struggle to find anything like that if you venture too far away from the major cities, but tourists should avoid those areas anyway. There are plenty of BDSM and fetish escorts operating in the major cities and there are also a number of classifieds and personals, with BDSM enthusiasts searching for likeminded people.
