Being aroused by poetry is referred to as Metrophilia which is the fetish term to describe the intense sexual pleasure a person may receive from listening to or reciting poetry. Metrophilia can take many forms and pleasure can be received from different aspects of poetry. The words, rhythm and meaning in a poem could be the cause for arousal; although it doesn’t have to be sexual content. In other instances the voice reciting the poem could be a trigger for increased sexual stimulation. Someone who enjoys Metrophilia may choose to pleasure themselves while reciting poetry or having it recited to them.
